Buccaneers Should Be Concerned About Their Wide Receiver Room

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have a problem developing at wide receiver. Two of their most important young pass catchers are now dealing with injuries.

NFL Network’s Sara Walsh highlights Jalen McMillan and Emeka Egbuka injuries. McMillan is dealing with a knee injury, while Egbuka is battling a toe injury.

Tampa Bay Can’t Afford More Setbacks

This is where things become concerning for the Buccaneers. Tampa Bay is already entering a season without Mike Evans for the first time in more than a decade.

That makes the health of the remaining receivers even more important. Losing McMillan and Egbuka for any meaningful stretch would create a major challenge.

Egbuka was expected to take on an even larger role this season. McMillan also needs a healthy year after his injury-shortened 2025 campaign.

The Buccaneers Need Their Receivers Healthy

There is still plenty of time for both players to return. However, injuries are exactly what Tampa Bay cannot afford at this position.

The Buccaneers need Egbuka and McMillan available. Their receiving corps becomes much less intimidating if injuries remove multiple pieces.

Tampa Bay made changes to its offense this offseason. Keeping the remaining core healthy now feels like one of the team’s biggest priorities.

The Buccaneers will now have to monitor both young wide receivers as they continue preparing for the season.

More Information Needed

The report did not provide additional details about either injury. There is also no reported timeline for either receiver’s return.

The severity of McMillan’s knee injury and Egbuka’s toe injury remains unclear.

Any additional updates from the Buccaneers should provide a better indication of their respective statuses.
