The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have signed wide receiver Jaden Smith as confirmed by the team’s official website. The team also confirmed the signing of running back Owen Wright.
Owen Wright, a 5-11, 225-pound running back, joins the Buccaneers after spending the 2024 season on the Baltimore Ravens’ Injured Reserve. With a collegiate career spanning William & Mary (2017-20) and Monmouth University (2021-22), Wright racked up 1,403 rushing yards and 23 touchdowns in 45 games. He earned first-team All-Colonial Athletic Association honors in 2022, tallying 304 yards and 16 touchdowns on 72 carries for Monmouth. A Bethesda, Maryland native, Wright will wear No. 49 for Tampa Bay and brings notable family ties as the grandson of former NFL player Brig Owens.
Jaden Smith, a 6-6 wide receiver from Fort Worth, Texas, brings an impressive collegiate resume to the Buccaneers. After playing for Montana State (2019-21), Tarleton State (2022-23), and Nevada (2024), Smith accumulated 138 receptions for 2,100 yards and 20 touchdowns in 45 games. His standout season at Nevada earned him All-Mountain West Honorable Mention honors, with 62 catches for 849 yards in 13 games. Smith, who will wear No. 80 for Tampa Bay.
In a corresponding move, the Buccaneers have placed safety Marcus Banks and running back DJ Williams on waived/injured status
