Buccaneers Star Snubbed From ‘Best Young Players’ List

The Oregon Ducks had a standout year in 2024-25.

Despite it being just their first year in the Big Ten Conference, the Ducks went undefeated in the regular season and earned the No. 1 seed in the College Football Playoff.

While they were eventually upset by the eventual champion Ohio State Buckeyes, it's a year many will look back on with fond memories.

That performance was coming off a year that might've been one of the best football seasons in the history of the Pac-12 Conference, as Oregon and Washington were neck-and-neck to see who would make the College Football Playoff.

Bo Nix did everything he could, throwing for an astounding 45 touchdowns to just three interceptions.

Next to Nix in the offensive backfield was running back Bucky Irving. Irving rushed for 1,180 yards and 11 touchdowns in his final season in Eugene. He also added 56 catches for 413 yards and two scores.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers drafted Irving as the No. 125 overall pick in the fourth round of the 2024 NFL Draft.

Irving's opportunities were limited to start the season, but he took off once he became the team's No. 1 running back. He finished with three games in which he rushed for over 100 yards and ended the season with 1,122 yards, 10th in the NFL.

However, Irving's name was noticeably absent from a recent piece from Pro Football Focus that highlighted the top 25 players under 25 years old.

While Irving likely will never admit any hard feelings about being left off, he may use this as bulletin board material to motivate him for what should be an incredible sophomore campaign.

If the Bucs can lean on their run game with Irving and Rachaad White, it's entirely possible we could see another jump from the Bucs this upcoming season.
