Buccaneers' Teddy Bridgewater Reveals Main 'Focus' After Preseason Outing

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers needed another arm for the offseason, and made the call to veteran free agent Teddy Bridgewater, and he answered the call.

With a little under two weeks inside the building, Teddy took some meaningful snaps in the 17-14 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers, and even gave rookie Emeka Egbuka his first NFL touchdown.

Bridgewater would finish his day going 6 for 11 for 85 yards and two touchdowns, in what might make Todd Bowles and the coaching staff think about the backup quarterback position.

But that is the furthest thing from Teddy's mind right now.

"I'm just here to help this team, and in every way possible," Bridgewater said. "I've been a humble servant throughout my career, playing and coaching. So, however I can help this team, that's my focus."

With Bridgewater putting some good things on tape against the Steelers, it will be interesting to see how the next week of practice and Tampa Bay's third preseason game against the Buffalo Bills play out from a snap perspective.

Kyle Trask is the other quarterback in the "battle," and he was 3 for 10 for 19 yards against the Steelers, which isn't ideal, so who knows what Bowles and the coaching staff are thinking.

We know how crucial it is for a team to have a competent backup quarterback, and Bridgewater fits the bill right now.

Could he usurp Trask for the role? That will likely come down to how each practice and then performs against the Bills, but Bridgewater has certainly made things interesting with roster cuts around the corner.
