The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are widely seen as huge favorites in the NFC South this season, with Todd Bowles' team expected to win their fifth straight division title.
Given the overall strength of the roster, some have the Buccaneers not only as NFC South champs, but others think Tampa Bay could be a sneaky chance in the NFC and even the Super Bowl if things go right.
The talent assembled on both sides of the ball lends itself to the Buccaneers being a playoff team at the bare minimum in 2025, but Bowles had a typical "Bowles" answer when asked about his team being the favorites in the NFC South.
“We didn't pantomime when they picked us to come in last, we're not going to pantomime when they pick us to come in first," Bowles said.
So, there you go. Bowles isn't moved one way or the other, and nor should he.
We only have to look at last season to see how quickly things can change. The Buccaneers were 4-2 and cruising until the Baltimore Ravens game in Week 7, which saw injuries to Chris Godwin, Mike Evans, and others. Tampa would then go on a four-game losing streak before steadying the ship just in time.
No doubt Bowles knows the talent he has at his disposal, but there is nothing to be gained from gloating; instead, he and his team will keep their heads down and let their football do the talking.
Yes, the Buccaneers should be overwhelming favorites for the NFC South, but the game isn't won on paper, and Bowles knows his team has to be consistent all year long if they are to lift the division crown again.
