The Tampa Bay Buccaneers secured a 28-13 victory over the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday, but the win came at a cost. Running back Bucky Irving, who was already nursing an injury, saw limited action before exiting the game. He managed just four carries for three yards and caught one pass for 15 yards before leaving the field, seemingly reaggravating his back issue.
During his Monday press conference, Buccaneers coach Todd Bowles was asked about the status of Bucky Irving’s back injury and whether the running back would be available to play later in the week. Bowles provided an update on Irving’s condition, shedding light on his potential availability for the team’s upcoming game.
“It’s tightened up. We got to see how it feels,” Bowles stated. “If we can get it loosened up, he should be okay. If not, we’ll see how the week goes.”
The Buccaneers’ 28-13 victory over the Las Vegas Raiders propelled them to a 7-6 record, securing sole possession of first place in the NFC South. As they prepare for their next challenge, a road matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers, the team is eager to build on their momentum. One of the key contributors to their success has been rookie sensation Bucky Irving, who has emerged as the top running back from the 2024 NFL Draft class. Irving has been nothing short of phenomenal, accumulating 1,035 yards and six touchdowns, making him a vital cog in the Buccaneers’ offense.
Bucky Irving was a fourth round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft out of Oregon. Irving has turned into a great compliment to Buccaneers running back Rachaad White.
With their recent win, the Buccaneers have positioned themselves favorably for a playoff berth and potentially hosting a postseason game. Throughout the season, the Atlanta Falcons have been their primary competitors for the NFC South lead, but the Falcons’ fortunes have taken a downturn, losing four consecutive games, including their latest setback to the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday, which dropped their record to 6-7. Although the Falcons hold the tiebreaker advantage over the Buccaneers, courtesy of their two regular-season victories, the Buccaneers can still clinch the division title by finishing a game ahead of their rivals. The Falcons will look to regain their footing on Monday Night Football, as they travel to face the Las Vegas Raiders.
This injury appears to be one Irving is going to have to deal with throughout the season. Not ideal for the rookie from Oregon.
