Buccaneers Waive Second-Year Quarterback

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have begun their roster cuts, and quarterback Connor Bazelak is among the first players waived.

Per Greg Auman, the Buccaneers are waiving Bazelak as they begin trimming their roster ahead of Sunday’s cutdown day.

“Bucs are waiving second-year QB Connor Bazelak, who was last year’s No. 3. Only got four snaps in last two preseason games as focus shifted to rookie Jalon Daniels.”

Buccaneers Move On From Connor Bazelak

Bazelak was the Buccaneers’ No. 3 quarterback last season. However, his role appears to have been taken by undrafted rookie Jalon Daniels.

Daniels is set to be the emergency option behind Baker Mayfield and Jake Browning for the 2026 season. Bazelak will now remain on waivers through Sunday’s cutdown day.

If the 25-year-old goes unclaimed, he will become a free agent Monday. He would then be able to sign with any franchise’s 53-man roster or practice squad.

Connor Bazelak’s College Career

Bazelak, 25, spent his first three seasons at Missouri. He made 20 starts before transferring to Indiana for the 2022 season.

After one year with the Hoosiers, Bazelak transferred to Bowling Green. He remained there for his final three seasons.

Bazelak appeared in 58 games and made 53 starts over six collegiate seasons. He completed 63 percent of his passes for 12,349 yards, 66 touchdowns, and 39 interceptions.

He also added 223 rushing yards and seven touchdowns during his collegiate career.
