Buccaneers will bring back creamsicle uniforms eventually

The NFL revealed Thursday that it will ditch the one-helmet rule, sparking conversation about the throwback uniforms teams will wear when they can officially sport another helmet.

One of the best throwback uniforms in the NFL belongs to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, whose creamsicle uniforms were very popular from 1976-1995. It appears the Bucs will bring them back, too.

Buccaneers COO Brian Ford told reporters that the team will eventually bring back the iconic creamsicle uniforms. However, he's uncertain when it will happen.

"It's very important to our fan base, as well as the Glazer family and our entire organization," Ford said, according to Joey Knight of the Tampa Bay Times. "We love to kind of reminisce and play some '70s and '80s music and bring out the big pom-poms and the creamsicle. So it's not a question of if, it's just when, and we'll definitely keep you posted."

Teams have until July 31 to adopt a second helmet for the 2022 season. However, it's too late to submit uniform changes for 2022, so unless the Bucs want to wear their old-school helmets with one of their new uniforms, the throwback helmets and uniforms won't return until 2023 at the earliest.
