Bucs Add Familiar Cornerback To Roster

On Monday the Tampa Bay Bucs signed cornerback Roman Parodie, who was on last year’s training camp roster to bolster the team’s depth. To make room for Parodie the team has waived/injured cornerback Kemon Hall, who was signed in the offseason.

According to the team’s press release, Parodie (6-2, 204) rejoins the Buccaneers after spending the 2025 preseason with the team. He originally signed with the team as a college free agent on May 9, 2025. Parodie appeared in two preseason games for the Bucs last season, logging five tackles and returning an interception 39 yards for a touchdown in the team’s first exhibition game against the Tennessee Titans.

Prior to his time in Tampa Bay, he appeared in 51 games for Ohio University from 2020-24, logging 124 total tackles (4.0 tackles for loss), 28 passes defensed, four fumble recoveries, three interceptions and one forced fumble. The Fort Lauderdale, Florida, native will wear No. 37 for Tampa Bay.

Roman Parodie’s Return Brings Familiarity To Bucs Defense

While most Tampa Bay fans and observers would love to see the team add a veteran cornerback with some experience, the team does get the benefit of bringing in a player like Roman Parodie with some familiarity to Todd Bowles’ scheme. The Bucs’ cornerbacks have been hit with the injury bug in training camp as both Kemon Hall and Chase Lucas – two newcomers this offseason – both missed most of camp with injuries.

Throw in the fact that Benjamin Morrison, last year’s second-round pick, has yet to participate in any of the team drills due to a nagging hamstring injury since the last day of OTAs, which also caused him to miss the mandatory mini-camp, and the Bucs needed to add another cornerback. Morrison, who missed a month of training camp practice last year as well as all three preseason games as a rookie, will likely miss Friday’s preseason opener at New York against the Jets unless he suddenly participates in the joint practices with the Jets on Tuesday and Wednesday. That is not expected to happen.

Tampa Bay did add two veteran safeties recently with the waiving of Lucas in Xavier Williams and Ifeatu Melifonwu, but it was clear the next position that needed to be addressed was cornerback. Parodie brings some ideal size to Tampa Bay’s secondary with his 6-foot-2, 204-pound frame.

Despite Morrison’s absence and the early camp injuries to Hall and Lucas, the Bucs cornerbacks that have suited and practiced have fared well. Zyon McCollum is off to a strong start in camp with a team-high three interceptions and is looking for a rebound season. Jacob Parrish has all but entrenched himself as CB2 opposite McCollum as Jamel Dean’s replacement with Morrison out.

And two rookies – fourth-round pick Keionte Scott and undrafted free agent Ayden Garnes – look like solid additions this offseason. Both have seen time with the first team, in addition to special teams ace Josh Hayes, who is entering a contract year and has improved his play on defense.

Parodie will join the team in New York for the joint practices and could see action on defense and on special teams in Friday night’s preseason opener.
