Bucs Earn Good Grade Despite Odd Haason Reddick Take

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers' offseason was largely defined by the franchise's ability to tie down receiver Chris Godwin to a new three-year deal.

After a drawn-out process, Godwin signed on, and the free agent signing of star pass rusher Haason Reddick swiftly followed that.

Both will elevate both sides of the ball as the Buccaneers have had perhaps one of the better offseasons, with players coming in and few going the other way.

For Pro Football Network, the Buccaneers' offseason work gets a B grade, but they throw in an odd take regarding Reddick.

"The Tampa Bay Buccaneers elected to re-sign 29-year-old Chris Godwin to a three-year deal in an effort to post another top-five offensive season," PFN writes. "Haason Reddick has struggled to live up to expectations since being the 13th overall pick in 2017, but an offensive-oriented team taking a one-year flier, even at $14 million, is a logical move with much more potential reward than risk. Tampa Bay has posted a winning record in four of the past five seasons and is positioned to do so again in 2025 as part of a weak NFC South."

The Godwin signing was perhaps the Buccaneers' best piece of business, but Reddick's acquisition was right behind it.

Having posted 11+ sacks in four consecutive seasons from 2020 through 2023, Reddick also was a two-time Pro Bowler in that time, before wanting a new contract from the Philadelphia Eagles. It was one he didn't get, and he was moved on to the New York Jets, where he held out of all of training camp and some of the regular season.

Now he comes to Tampa Bay looking to reclaim his status as one of the better pass rushers in football. The Buccaneers needed defensive help, and they got it.

If Reddick can get back to his Pro Bowl level form, his signing might just be the best of the entire offseason, and in turn, improve the Buccaneers' free agency grade.
