The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are hoping to break their four-game losing streak as they prepare for a Daniel Jones-less New York Giants on Sunday.

Jones requested his release from the Giants after being demoted to third string earlier this week, and the team complied.

Now, the Buccaneers defense will have to focus on Tommy DeVito under center as Tampa Bay hopes to keep pace with the Atlanta Falcons in the NFC South race.

The Buccaneers' offense might get help, too.

Coach Todd Bowles updated the status of star wideout Mike Evans on Friday and noted that he feels "really good" about Evans' possibility of playing on Sunday.

Evans returned to practice this week after aggravating a hamstring injury in Week 7 against the Baltimore Ravens. He said this week of practice "built confidence" that he can go on Sunday.

“We’ll play him as long as he’s healthy and fresh,” Bowles said, via a transcript from the team. “If he needs to be in there, he’ll be in there, but we’ll get him out when we have to.”

Tampa Bay has lost all three games that Evans has missed, so his return could boost the club for a late-season playoff push. That push could include catching the division-leading Falcons.

Atlanta is 6-5 while the Bucs are 4-6 after a four-game skid that includes the night Evans went down against the Ravens.
