Bucs QB John Wolford (neck) discharged from hospital
Vincent Carchietta-USA TODAY Sports

Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback John Wolford was discharged from a New York-area hospital and set to return to Florida with the team on Sunday, coach Todd Bowles said.

John Wolford left the game against the New York Jets in East Rutherford, N.J., on Saturday night with a neck injury. He was taken off the field by stretcher after being sacked by Jets defensive lineman Jalyn Holmes.

The Bucs announced shortly after the injury that Wolford had movement in his extremities.

He was 4-for-4 for 57 yards in the game, a 13-6 Tampa Bay win.

Wolford, 27, signed with the Buccaneers on May 23 after three seasons with the Los Angeles Rams. In seven career games (four starts), he is 2-2 as a starter and has completed 58.7 percent of his passes for 626 yards with one touchdown and five interceptions.

The Buccaneers have yet to select a starting quarterback for the 2023 season, with either Baker Mayfield or Kyle Trask in line to replace the retired Tom Brady.
