With the Bucs’ 2025 season officially over, the contracts of the team’s practice squad players are officially up. And as is customary, Tampa Bay re-signed most of its practice squad players to reserve/futures contracts with the team making that announcement on Thursday, January 8.

The Bucs have re-signed 12 of those 17 players, in addition to defensive lineman Jayson Jones, who was on practice squad/injured reserve for much of the season due to a torn bicep he suffered in practice.

Tampa Bay added one new player from outside the organization, offensive tackle Marshall Foerner, who went to training camp with the Indianapolis Colts last summer. The 14 players the Bucs signed are:

S Marcus Banks
OT Marshall Foerner
WR Garrett Greene
WR Dennis Houston
DT Nash Hutmacher
LB Nick Jackson
DT Jayson Jones
OLB Mohamed Kamara
C Ben Scott
LB Benton Whitley
RB Michael Wiley
CB Damarion Williams
RB Josh Williams
RB Owen Wright

Once these players are activated from the reserve list following the Super Bowl, they will be part of the Buccaneers’ 90-man offseason roster when the new league year begins in March. Last year, three of the players signed to reserve/futures contracts after the 2024 season ended up seeing action for the Bucs in the regular season – defensive lineman C.J. Brewer, guard Luke Haggard and wide receiver Ryan Miller – and a fourth, tight end Tanner Taula, spent the entire 2025 season on the team’s practice squad.

The practice squad players that were not re-signed include outside linebacker Jason Pierre-Paul, Taula and Brewer. International player Lorenz Metz was also not re-signed.

Bucs Re-Signed Most Of Their Practice Squad Players

The expansion of practice squads to 16 spots (plus occasional international player exemptions) and the introduction of the game day elevation options in recent years has allowed teams more continuity and more flexibility with those players. Nine of the 17 players who finished the season on the Bucs practice squad were on that unit for all 18 weeks and two others started and finished on that squad with some time on the active roster in between.

Jackson played in three games with one start as a rookie in 2025, recording one tackle each on defense and special teams, and Kamara got into three games as well. Wright played four games and logged three carries for six yards and three kickoff returns for 73 yards, while Williams opened the season on the 53-man roster and played in three games, recording four carries for 11 yards and five kickoff returns for 129 yards. Williams was also suspended six games for violating the league’s PED (performance-enhancing drug) policy.

Greene, Hutmacher, Jackson, Scott and Williams all joined the team as undrafted rookies last May. Foerner joined the Colts as an undrafted rookie out of Minnesota State-Mankato in 2025 but was waived during final roster cuts in late August and did not subsequently appear on an NFL roster.
