Bucs Starting OL Injured In Week 10 vs. Patriots

Just as the Bucs welcomed one starting offensive lineman back to the lineup for Sunday’s Week 10 game against the Patriots, they had another get injured in the first quarter.

To start the game, right tackle Luke Goedeke made his return to the field for the first time since Week 2, giving Tampa Bay 4/5 of its starting offensive line together for the first time all season. And the line was dominant on a six-play, 65-yard touchdown drive to open the game.

But then came the bad news, as left guard Ben Bredeson left the game with a hamstring injury and was announced as doubtful to return to the game. Soon after, he was downgraded to out.

The latest injury to the offensive line leaves the Bucs in a tough spot, as reserve guards Luke Haggard and Elijah Klein are inactive for Sunday’s game. That leaves the line with Dan Feeney at right guard and Mike Jordan at left guard.

Bredeson Is Now The Bucs’ Latest Starting O-Line Hit With Injury

The Bucs offensive line simply cannot catch a break, as Ben Bredeson became the unit’s fourth starter to get hit with an injury this season.

All-Pro left tackle Tristan Wirfs had knee surgery in the offseason and missed the first three games of the season to start those injury woes. That left Tampa Bay to shuffle its offensive line alignment, with Bredeson moving over to center, Graham Barton kicking out to left tackle and Mike Jordan stepping in for Bredeson at left guard.

By the time Wirfs returned in Week 4, right guard Cody Mauch was out for the rest of the season and right tackle Luke Goedeke was on injured reserve with a foot injury. That left the Bucs with Wirfs at left tackle, Bredeson back at left guard, Barton back at center, Luke Haggard at right guard and Charlie Heck at right tackle.

Haggard then suffered a shoulder injury in Week 6, leading to in-season signing Dan Feeney to step in for him.

And just when it seemed like the Bucs were going to get as close as possible to their planned starting offensive line coming out of the bye week with Goedeke’s return, Bredeson went down.
