After the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ Wednesday injury report looked longer than a CVS receipt, there was a lot of concern that this week’s matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles could be a battle of the backups as the Bucs look to get themselves back into the winner’s circle in Week 4.
However, Thursday’s report showed a lot more promise, with men on both sides of the ball being upgraded to full participants. One surprising downgrade, though, is rookie running back Bucky Irving, who became a fan favorite through the first few games but was a non-participant on Thursday.
Starting right tackle, Luke Goedeke had missed the Bucs’ last two games after dealing with a concussion likely stemming from Week 1 versus the Washington Commanders. Today, though, the big man returned to being a full participant, which could mark a drastic improvement in the trenches and much better protection for quarterback Baker Mayfield.
Unfortunately, it seems that All-Pro safety Antoine Winfield Jr will miss his third straight game, but with the Eagles potentially missing their Pro Bowl receiver duo, backup safety Christian Izien’s duties may be more manageable than originally anticipated.
