Buffalo Bills add former NFL referee to their staff
Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

The Buffalo Bills have made a hire that is garnering a lot of praise.

The Bills have hired former NFL referee John Parry to be their officiating liaison. Parry had previously been the NFL rules expert for ESPN's Monday Night Football.

Parry had said over the weekend that he was joining an NFL team in an interview with Football Zebras, and it turned out to be the Bills.

Parry's expected to be the Bills' "challenge guy," meaning that in situations that may garner a challenge, Parry will give Sean McDermott his thoughts on whether a certain call warrants a challenge.

"There's so much on the shoulders of coaches as it pertains specifically to replay because it's grown so much and it's complicated," Parry said to Football Zebras.

This is a smart, outside the box hire by the Bills that should help McDermott when it comes to making challenges.
