When the Buffalo Bills acquired DJ Moore from the Chicago Bears, they essentially inherited a four-year, $98 million contract with $54.48 million guaranteed, from the $15.5 million guaranteed added for 2028. He is scheduled to earn a fully guaranteed $23.48 million base salary with a $24.5 million cap hit in 2026. Moore will then earn a $23.48 million base salary with $15.5 million guaranteed, and a $24.5 million cap hit in 2027 and 2028, wrapping up with a $23.48 million base salary with a $24.5 million cap hit in 2029.
According to Jason Fitzgerald of Over The Cap, the Bills have restructured DJ Moore’s contract by converting $22.185 million of his base salary into a signing bonus, adding one void year, and freeing $17.748 million in cap space. As a result, his base salary drops to $1.3 million, while his cap hit falls to $6.752 million for 2026. Moore’s $22.185 million signing bonus will be spread evenly over five years at $4.437 million, increasing his future cap hits by the same amount. Lastly, his dead cap for 2027 will soar by $17.748 million to $33.248 million.

Josh Palmer had a rough inaugural season with the Bills, missing seven games due to a lingering ankle injury, and had an additional $3 million set to be guaranteed last Sunday, plus the already $4.84 million guaranteed for 2026. Ultimately, the front office allowed the deadline to pass, triggering the extra $3 million in guaranteed compensation, meaning he will remain with the team this season. However, they can either do a simple restructure by converting part of his $9.66 million base salary into a signing bonus or a complex restructure by reducing his base salary to the league minimum and freeing $6.756 million in cap space
