As ESPN's Marcel Louis-Jacques wrote, the Buffalo Bills sent rookie players home on Thursday after five coronavirus tests from the week returned positive results.
Louis-Jacques added that two players, one being a rookie, tested positive. The rookie is reportedly asymptomatic.
Under NFL protocols for safe openings of training-camp sessions, players must test negative for the virus three times in five days before they can enter team facilities.
In a statement shared by ESPN, the Bills said: "With 5 (positive tests) since the beginning of the testing period last Tuesday, we decided to take a disciplined, proactive and preventative approach to hopefully eliminate additional cases within our team."
Thus far, the club has placed defensive tackle Vincent Taylor, wide receiver Duke Williams and rookie cornerback Ike Brown on its Reserve/COVID-19 list since training camp opened to first-year players on July 21. The rookie who tested positive had tested negative three times before Thursday.
