Buffalo Bills Strengthen Defense With Pro Bowler Signing
Jamie Sabau-USA TODAY Sports

The Buffalo Bills are making it clear that improving their defense is a major priority this offseason, and they’ve backed that up with a big signing. The team has agreed to a three-year deal worth up to $52.5 million with two-time Pro Bowl pass rusher Bradley Chubb, giving Buffalo another dangerous weapon off the edge.

In a division packed with talented quarterbacks and explosive offenses, the Bills are clearly looking to ramp up the pressure on opposing passers. Bringing in a proven playmaker like Chubb not only strengthens their defensive front but also signals that Buffalo is willing to spend big in order to stay competitive in the tough AFC East.

The news was confirmed on X by Adam Schefter, he put out a tweet saying, “Former Dolphins DE Bradley Chubb reached agreement on a three-year, $43.5 million deal worth up to $52.5 million that includes $29 million guaranteed with the Buffalo Bills, per @ErikBurkhardt of @RocNationSports.”

How Does Chubb Fit in at Buffalo?

The Buffalo Bills moved quickly once the new league year began, adding veteran edge rusher Bradley Chubb to their defensive front on a three-year deal worth $43.5 million, with incentives that could raise the total to $52.5 million. The contract reportedly includes $29 million guaranteed, showing Buffalo’s confidence in the former Pro Bowler as a key piece of its defense.

Chubb became available after the Miami Dolphins opted to release him in a move largely driven by salary-cap considerations. His contract carried a 2026 cap charge of more than $31 million, and Miami’s decision to move on allowed the team to free up significant space while taking on some dead money in future seasons.

Despite that move, Chubb was coming off a solid campaign in 2025. He appeared in all 17 games, led the Dolphins with 8.5 sacks, and consistently drew extra attention from opposing offenses. Even while facing a high rate of double teams, he still generated pressure at one of the better rates of his career.

The former No. 5 overall pick by the Denver Broncos has recorded 48 sacks during his NFL career and previously posted an 11-sack season in 2023 before suffering a serious knee injury late that year.

Now in Buffalo, Chubb joins a defensive unit anchored by pass rusher Greg Rousseau as the Bills continue building a defense designed to disrupt quarterbacks across the AFC.
