Buffalo Bills: Wide Receiver Named Biggest Issue in 2024
Trevor Ruszkowski-USA TODAY Sports

As the Buffalo Bills prepare for the 2024 season, ESPN recently stated their biggest weakness heading into the season.

It was a tough end to the season once again for the Buffalo Bills. Despite having home-field this time against the Kansas City Chiefs, the Chiefs once again got the best of them in the playoffs. Buffalo is a great team year in and year out, but they just can’t seem to get over the hump.

With a great quarterback in Josh Allen, Buffalo is always going to be in the mix as a contender. However, Allen is starting to make big money and that is going to impact the rest of the roster. We saw that happen this offseason, as the team elected to trade Stefon Diggs to the Houston Texans after some great years in Buffalo.

While Buffalo still might be a very good team, the 2024 version has some holes it appears. Recently, ESPN named the wide receiver position as the biggest weakness for Buffalo heading into 2024. Here’s what they had to say.

Roster hole: Wide receiver

We can have some interesting arguments about Keon Coleman, whom the Bills took at the top of the second round. My friend Mike Tanier pointed out that Coleman’s film is filled with him almost making a lot of highlight catches in 2023: tracking the ball well but lacking top-end speed and getting it knocked away or not catching the ball cleanly. Coleman’s Playmaker Score was fairly typical for a second-round receiver.

Considering wide receiver was an issue for the Buffalo Bills last season with Diggs, it certainly didn’t get any better this offseason after trading him away. Diggs is a talent that is hard to replace and likely won’t happen overnight.

With that being said, Allen is going to have to do his best to try and elevate some of his young wide receivers. Great quarterbacks are capable of making everyone around them better, and the Bills will be asking that of Allen this season.

As the offseason rolls on, the Buffalo Bills would be wise to try and find some veteran receivers to help bolster the depth chart.
