I am pleased that our new head coach, Jeff Hafley, is defensive-minded.

Why?

For obvious reasons.

Ever since the 1972 undefeated Miami Dolphins won the Super Bowl with the suffocating no-name defense, and with the recent defensive thrashing of the Kansas City Chiefs by the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LIX, and the equally dominant thrashing of the New England Patriots by the Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl LX, defense has dominated.

Let’s build up a dominant defense, Coach Hafley.

Our team needs numerous pieces on both offense and defense, but focusing on defensive pieces is critical.

Cornerback, edge rusher, safety, and whoever else can help us.

Yes, we also need a starting quarterback and a receiver who can complement Jaylen Waddle, offensive linemen who can play physically, and develop an attitude.

How did the Seattle Seahawks dominate the Patriots in the Super Bowl?

Physicality and defense.

Period.

The last time I remember that the Miami Dolphins had an identity on defense was the Killer B’s in the early 80’s.

Yes, they were beaten up by the San Francisco 49ers in Dan Marino‘s first and only Super Bowl, but we had an identity on defense.

Let us rebuild a defensive identity.

It is a start.

And hit 100% of our draft picks, as Seahawks General Manager, John Schneider, has done in the past two years.

Let’s forget the 20% rate that Chris Grier had; he is gone.

Jon-Eric Sullivan, if you hiy 50%, I will be satisfied as a long-time fan.

Let us hit on the majority of our first-, second-, and third-round picks, be fortunate with the remainder, and begin to build a true winning team.

Let us get back to the Miami Dolphins’ winning tradition.

It has been way too long.
