Cal flies under the radar in recruiting for 2026 class as they get one of the best players in the country no one is talking about

Back in the day, the California Golden Bears were a team with lots of stars playing for them. There is former Green Bay Packers legend Aaron Rodgers, and of course, hometown hero and former Seattle Seahawks and Las Vegas Raiders legend Marshawn Lynch.

However, it's been relatively quiet there over the last few years. However, last year they were great, despite what anyone says or what the record says, the Bears could have easily been a team that could have competed for a top spot in the conference had a few more games gone their way.

Still, they are developing and recruiting at a pretty decent rate, which is awesome considering how the new era of college football has dramatically changed things. I mean they did just land one of the best interior offensive linemen in the country.

Cal lands 2026 IOL Tommy Tofi

Tommy Tofi is a four-star interior offensive lineman from Archbishop Riordan High School in San Francisco, California, the Golden Bears' third four-star commitment in the 2026 class. At 6'6" and 340 pounds, he’s a powerful run blocker with quick feet and agility and one of the best interior offensive linemen in the country.

Ranked No. 93 overall, No. 6 interior offensive lineman, and No. 17 in California by 247Sports, Tofi committed to Cal on June 3, 2025, over offers from Oregon, Tennessee, Ohio State, Miami, Utah, USC, and others. Of course, he chose to stay close to home, well, right over the Golden Gate Bridge.

Tofi had over 25 offers and visited Cal, Utah, Oregon, Tennessee, and BYU officially, plus USC, UCLA, and Miami unofficially. He chose Cal for its family-like atmosphere, “Polynesian pipeline,” and a chance to stay local. His brother, John Tofi Jr., an outside linebacker, also committed to Cal, so it also gives them a family feel.

Tofi’s strengths include strong pass-blocking and a physical style that pancakes defenders. He is projected to make an instant impact at Cal, especially after their offensive line struggled in 2024. With his size and athleticism, he could see the field a ton as a true freshman, and if he doesn't, he will certainly develop into a star as a sophomore.
