Cam Newton Claps Back at Paul Finebaum Over Controversial Remarks

Cam Newton is not staying quiet.

On a new episode of his "4th&1 Podcast," the former NFL MVP fired back at college football analyst Paul Finebaum after Finebaum made some eye-raising comments about Newton’s college career and character.

It all started when Finebaum claimed on air that legendary coach Urban Meyer once told him Cam was “the worst guy he has ever dealt with” during his time coaching college football. That’s a bold accusation considering Meyer’s history with some controversial players across stints at Florida, Ohio State, and Utah.

Finebaum even went a step further, saying, “Cam Newton got kicked off the team… He only played one meaningful year, and on the final play of Cam Newton’s career… he tried to be Superman and almost fumbled. I bring up all this ancient history because Cam Newton was selfish. Tim Tebow was the consummate team player.”

That’s when Cam had enough.

"It's hard for me to believe, Paul, that you like me,” Newton responded. “It's written all over your tone. It's written all over your words. It's written all over the way you explain and give examples referring to Cam Newton."

Cam pushed back hard against Finebaum’s claim that he was “the worst” Urban Meyer ever coached.

"For me to be the worst that he's ever dealt with? We all know that's a lie."

He also addressed the idea that he was “kicked off” the Florida team.

"I did NOT get kicked off the team, Paul! What you gon' say? Cause I stole a laptop? That’s not true… I went [to Blinn] to play. While Tim Tebow was at Florida, I wasn't gonna play, Paul! So I had to go and transfer!"

Newton wasn’t just correcting the record — he was challenging the narrative Finebaum has consistently pushed for years. The back-and-forth has reignited long-running tension between Cam and some in the college football media who, in his eyes, never gave him a fair shake.

One thing’s clear: Cam’s not here for the disrespect — and he’s going to speak up when it happens.
