Cam Newton gives bold prediction for potential Alabama-Notre Dame playoff matchup
Jake Crandall / USA TODAY NETWORK / USA TODAY NETWORK

Cam Newton is not a big fan of the new 12-team College Football Playoff format and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.

Newton went on a rant on ESPN’s First Take Friday while discussing the lack of interest he feels it will be in watching SMU, Boise State and Arizona State in the College Football Playoff if those teams were to make it. He then turned his attention to Notre Dame, who he compared to the Dallas Cowboys.

If there is no movement in the current College Football Playoff rankings on Sunday, Alabama would be scheduled to play Notre Dame in the first round on the road. Newton feels this will not be good for the Fighting Irish.

“I could tell you what’s going to be the result of somebody playing Notre Dame, especially if it’s Alabama,” Newton said. “They gonna blow the doors off of Notre Dame.”

Alabama is now force to wait to see what its fate will be.
