After months of speculation following his injury early in the season, it seems as if veteran quarterback Cam Rising's future with Utah is coming into focus as 247Sports' Matt Zenitz reports the Rising era in Salt Lake City is most likely coming to an end.

During his time with Utah, Rising threw for 6,127 yards, 53 touchdowns, and 17 interceptions while also rushing for 986 yards and 12 touchdowns. The long-tenured field general led the Utes to victories in back-to-back Pac-12 championships while also earning two appearances in the Rose Bowl, both of which the team lost.

"It appears that Cam Rising's run at Utah is over. The current expectation is that the star QB won't be back with the Utes next season, sources tell CBS Sports/247Sports," Zenitz said.

"It's unclear at this point whether Rising plans to head to the NFL or whether he plans to apply for a medical hardship waiver and then use that extra year of eligibility. Rising is eligible for the waiver because of being limited to three games this year due to an injury," he continued.

With Wilson, Rose, Huard, and now Rising leaving the program, Utah's current quarterback room consists of Jamarian Ficklin, Wyatt Becker, and Dallen Engemann leaving that position as one of the most dire needs for the program.

Currently, the quarterback that makes the most sense for Utah is former New Mexico Lobo Devin Dampier as his offensive coordinator Jason Beck, who he had much success under, is now employed by Utah and will be looking to get players in who can and have done well under his system.
