Cam Ward Predicted to Fall Outside Top-5 in NFL Mock Draft

The 2025 NFL Draft is quickly approaching. All first-round selections will be made on April 24, with the Tennessee Titans having the No. 1 pick.

One name who has serious potential to be that top selection is Miami's Cam Ward, who Pro Football Focus currently ranks as the No. 1 quarterback and the No. 20 player available

However, in a mock draft done by Chris Trapasso of CBS Sports, he predicts that Ward won't even be selected in the top five, rather falling to the New York Jets, who are planning to cut the team's 2024 starter, Aaron Rodgers.

"Ward "slips' slightly to the Jets and the new front office and coaching staff does not hesitate to select him at No. 7 overall," he wrote.

That puts Ward in a position to take over for an offense that never really found its footing under Rodgers, ranking 24th in total yards per game (310.3) and tied for 24th in points per game (19.9) in 2024.

The Jets are also in a position to let Ward sit for at least a year if they feel it'd help with his development, as they have quarterback Tyrod Taylor under contract going into 2025, who's started 58 career games, sporting a 28-28-1 record.
