Though quarterback Cam Ward has only been with the Tennessee Titans, he likely knew he was getting drafted by the team very early in the process. He never had the chance to get too connected to another team.
One team that he's happy he didn't go to happens to share a division with the Titans. During the NFLPA Rookie Premiere over the weekend, Ward was seen chatting up with Jacksonville Jaguars No. 2 pick wide receiver/cornerback hybrid star Travis Hunter.
“I would hate to be a Jacksonville Jaguar,” Ward told Hunter in a video posted by Deion Sanders Jr.
“We didn’t want you,” Hunter replied.
Hunter and Ward know each other well, as they were both Heisman Trophy finalists during the last college football season. They're clearly having some fun banter, but Titans fans should be happy to hear their quarterback already talk trash about a hated rival.
Hunter is from Florida, so it's easy to see why he's excited to join the Jaguars, but it's also easy to understand why Ward wouldn't want to go there. Jacksonville has only had an NFL franchise since 1995, but they have the second-worst all-time winning percentage of any team in the league.
Luckily for Ward and Hunter, they can settle which team is better during the actual season, as they'll be facing each other twice a year going forward. The AFC South is arguably the weakest division in the NFL, so it's not impossible that either team could make a playoff leap in 2025.
