Cam Ward Sends Strong Message on Titans HC Brian Callahan

The Tennessee Titans have kept their true intentions with the No. 1 pick in the NFL Draft a secret all offseason. New general manager Mike Borgonzi has been difficult to read for opposing front offices, which has given the Titans an upper hand as they decide what to do with the pick.

Momentum has been building in recent weeks that Miami quarterback Cam Ward is the apple of the Titans' eye, but nothing is set in stone yet. However, ESPN's Turron Davenport reported that Ward spoke glowingly of Titans head coach Brian Callahan after Miami's Pro Day on Monday.

"I think Coach Callahan's one of the best head coaches out there," said Ward. "The things he did with Joe Burrow when he first got into the league made him be real successful."

Drafting Ward would provide a massive upgrade for the Titans at the quarterback position. The team currently has Will Levis and Brandon Allen under contract, the former of which has underperformed in his two NFL seasons, and the latter of which is a career backup.

Ward threw for 4,313 yards and a nation-leading 39 touchdowns last season for the Hurricanes, and he is the consensus top quarterback in this year's draft class. He has already drawn comparisons to legendary quarterbacks like Steve McNair and could help turn around the Titans franchise like Jayden Daniels did in Washington a season ago.

Coach Callahan is known to be a quarterback whisperer, but he was not able to help Levis like he did Joe Burrow and Derek Carr. Perhaps with an elite prospect like Ward, who reveres Callahan's track record, the two could do some damage in a wide open AFC South.
