In the final days and weeks leading up to the 2025 NFL draft, there was little doubt who the Tennessee Titans would take with the No. 1 overall pick — star quarterback Cam Ward.
Ward’s journey to the NFL was anything but typical. Coming out of high school as a no-star recruit, he began his collegiate career at Incarnate Word, where he quickly exceeded expectations. His success there earned him a transfer to Washington State, where he truly made a name for himself over two impressive seasons.
In 2024, Ward transferred again — this time to Miami — where everything clicked. His standout season catapulted him into the national spotlight, and by draft night, he was the consensus No. 1 overall pick, officially becoming the face of the Titans franchise.
Following his selection, Ward’s rookie NFL salary has now been revealed — and it's a significant payday. His four-year, fully guaranteed contract is worth $48.7 million, including a $32.1 million signing bonus.
In his rookie season, Ward will earn a base salary of $8.9 million, with his average annual salary coming in at approximately $12.21 million. The deal also includes a fifth-year team option.

— Spotrac (@spotrac) April 26, 2025
#1 Cam Ward, $48.7M
#25 Jaxson Dart, $17M
#40 Tyler Shough, $10.8M
#92 Jalen Milroe, $6.2M
#94 Dillon Gabriel, $6.2M
#144 Shedeur Sanders, $4.6M
Compared to the other quarterbacks in this year’s draft class, there’s a significant drop-off in rookie salaries. Jaxson Dart, selected No. 25 overall in the first round, is expected to earn around $17 million. Meanwhile, Shedeur Sanders, who slipped all the way to the fifth round, is set to make approximately $4.6 million.
However, after a stellar senior season at Miami — paired with impressive showings in pre-draft interviews and at his pro day — Cam Ward earned every bit of what he’s received. Following his selection by the Titans, he sent a clear message about what’s to come.
“They know they made the right choice in getting me," Ward said. "But at the end of the day, I am just trying to be with my teammates, have command of the huddle, and at the end of the day, try and win games, that is our main goal. It all worked out in the long run, and I am grateful for it."
