In a moment that will be remembered for years, Baltimore Ravens defensive tackle Michael Pierce made a rare and impressive play in Saturday's 35-10 victory over the Cleveland Browns.
Pierce’s first career interception helped seal the AFC North title for the Ravens, and cameras captured the excitement from his teammates, turning the unforgettable moment into a viral sensation.
The play happened late in the fourth quarter when Pierce dropped into coverage and intercepted a pass thrown by Browns quarterback Bailey Zappe.
As soon as Pierce made the catch, the sideline erupted in celebration, with every teammate jumping up to congratulate him. Despite the Ravens already leading by 25 points, the energy was just as high as if it were a game-winning play.
A mic’d-up video of the moment was shared by the Ravens on Instagram, giving fans a behind-the-scenes look at the action.
The video captured quarterback Lamar Jackson, also wearing a mic, laughing and running up to Pierce.
“Sacking quarterbacks, catching picks,” Jackson joked as he joined in the celebration.
Teammates couldn’t help but tease Pierce about his short return after the interception.
“You ran out of gas after like three yards,” kicker Justin Tucker said with a smile.
“That’s too good boy,” defensive end Brent Urban also joined in the fun, sitting on the sideline with Pierce.
“That’s a funny ending to the game,” Pierce responded before both players burst into laughter.
The interception was a long-awaited achievement for Pierce, who has been with the Ravens since 2016. Known more for his role as a nose tackle, Pierce has now added an interception to his already impressive season, which includes 19 tackles and two sacks, per ESPN.
The viral play, along with the Ravens’ AFC North title, marked a perfect end to the regular season and became one of the key highlights of an unforgettable game.
