Can Bills Finally 'Slay Dragon' In 2025?

The Buffalo Bills know that the 2025 season is when many expect them to go all the way and claim their first-ever Super Bowl win.

Josh Allen and the offense have remained relatively the same, while the defense has seen a host of free agents and draft picks bolster the defensive line and secondary, two areas many thought were the franchise's biggest weaknesses.

Now, head coach Sean McDermott has to bring it all together for a team that has all the tools needed to be Super Bowl champs, but there's one big hurdle in front of them.

The Kansas City Chiefs.

For The Athletic, after the offseason additions, maybe now is the time Buffalo finally slays its rivals when all the chips are pushed into the middle of the table.

"Their offensive continuity and defensive improvements make for a stronger overall roster," The Athletic writes. "While they had the talent to beat Kansas City in last year’s AFC Championship game, they might now have the defensive line and secondary needed to finally slay that proverbial dragon."

Losing the last four playoff meetings to Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs, there is a big mental barrier now confronting the Bills, and the fact that Kansas City has beaten Buffalo both at home and away shows Andy Reid's team has the wood over them.

Are the offseason additions enough to swing the pendulum the Bills' way? For some, yes, but in truth, we will need to see it play out in the postseason.

The Bills and Chiefs play in the regular season this year. That result will mean nothing because Buffalo has beaten the Chiefs regularly in those games, but we are talking about high-pressure games in the postseason.

Is this the year Allen and the Bills finally slay their dragon?
