Can the Panthers maintain their fantasy football success?

After starting Andy Dalton at QB over an ineffective Bryce Young, the Carolina Panthers continued to play competitively in Week 4 despite losing to the Cincinnati Bengals, 34-24.

What's most impressive — especially for fantasy players — is how Dalton has elevated the play of his supporting cast, notably WR Diontae Johnson and RB Chuba Hubbard.

Sunday marked the second consecutive week of more than 20 PPR points for the pair, which disappointed in Weeks 1 and 2.

Looking at Dalton's history, Johnson should be able to continue this production. Dalton has consistently been able to help his top target produce, regardless of the team on which he is playing.

Dalton most notably spent his first nine seasons in Cincinnati, helping A.J. Green make seven consecutive Pro Bowl appearances. After his time with the Bengals, Dalton made stops with the Cowboys, Bears and Saints before signing with the Panthers.

Initially signed as a backup, Dalton was able to maintain multiple receivers in double-digit fantasy points when he started. They included Amari Cooper (14.8 PPG) and CeeDee Lamb (12.8 PPG) in Dallas, Darnell Mooney (16.7 PPG) in Chicago and Chris Olave (11 PPG) in New Orleans.

Johnson has emerged as Dalton's guy in Carolina. Through two games with Dalton, Johnson has 15 catches totaling 205 yards and two TDs. What makes Johnson's fantasy outlook hopeful is he has 27 targets through two games, more than double Xavier Legette's 13 targets.

Hubbard's success can be more attributed to a lack of running back competition in Carolina than to the change in quarterback. Through four weeks, Hubbard has rushed 55 times, 30 more than backup Miles Sanders, and totaled 296 yards.

Hubbard has made the most of his carries, averaging 5.4 yards per attempt. He's also had a massive workload of roughly 25 touches a game with Dalton at QB. His efficiency and workload have resulted in back-to-back 100-yard rushing games (104 vs. Cincinnati, 114 vs. Las Vegas).

The fourth-year pro is a reliable receiver, too, hauling in 13 of 14 passes thrown his way for 84 yards and a touchdown.

All of this receiving success should continue for Johnson and Hubbard considering Dalton is averaging almost 40 passing attempts a game.

Johnson is Dalton's top receiver and should continue to get double-digit targets. Depending on the week or game script, Hubbard may or may not see more than 20 rushes a game, but regardless should continue to get work in the passing game.

The Panthers are not going to be Super Bowl contenders this season, but with Dalton at QB, the Carolina offense could be exciting to watch and great for fantasy football rosters.
