Cardinals' Chandler Jones positive for COVID-19, status for Sunday in question

The unbeaten Arizona Cardinals improved to 5-0 on the season with this past Sunday's 17-10 win over the San Francisco 49ers but could be without their top pass rusher for this Sunday's matchup at the 3-2 Cleveland Browns.

According to Field Yates of ESPN, Arizona two-time First-Team All-Pro Chandler Jones tested positive for COVID-19, and his status for Week 6 is up in the air. As Chase Goodbread noted for the NFL's website, Jones could be cleared to return to team activities by the weekend if he's fully vaccinated against the coronavirus, can produce two negative tests at least 24 hours apart and remain asymptomatic for 48 hours.

Neither Goodbread nor Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk, among others, reported if Jones is vaccinated. However, Chuck Harris of Cards Wire/USA Today later said Jones has gotten the necessary shot(s).

Jones began his season recording five sacks in the Week 1 victory over the Tennessee Titans but hasn't tallied another one since that result. In total, he's also accumulated nine tackles, two forced fumbles, a fumble recovery, and 14 quarterback hits on the campaign.

Cleveland, meanwhile, is a perfect 2-0 at home this season following wins against the Houston Texans and Chicago Bears.
