Cardinals Cut 34 To Finalize 53-Man Roster

The Cardinals saved almost all of their roster moves for the deadline, parting ways with 34 players today to get down to 53 players. Here are the moves they made to finalize their initial roster:

The Cardinals will see Conner and Carter miss the first four weeks of the season, at least, allowing No. 4 overall pick Jeremiyah Love to have a clean runway to a starting role to open up the season. At quarterback, it was expected, but Arizona will keep three quarterbacks for the first time in a couple years with Jacoby Brissett starting over backup Gardner Minshew II and third-round rookie Carson Beck.

It’s disappointing to see Ojulari hit the waiver wire. The 2023 second-round pick has been working his way back to full health since suffering a serious training camp injury two years ago. After a promising rookie campaign, he’s only appeared in eight games since. With Murphy-Bunting getting released, the team must be expecting to see Garrett Williams back in action soon.

The Cardinals have a lone undrafted rookie who made the initial 53-man roster. Safety Wydett Williams Jr. had been one of several NFL players pursuing a return to the NCAA for a fifth year of eligibility. Now that he’s beaten the odds and made a 53-man roster, though, it seems he’ll remain now in the NFL.
