Cardinals fans get positive injury update on top target for Kyler Murray

Arizona Cardinals fans received some positive news Monday on the recovery of one of Kyler Murray's top targets.

The Cardinals are predicted to be one of, if not the worst team in the NFL during the 2023 season, so the return of Zach Ertz can only help.

Despite their release of star wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins in late May, Arizona still has some decent pieces on offense for Murray, whenever he returns from his injury. In addition to Ertz (a three-time Pro Bowler during his days with the Philadelphia Eagles), the Cardinals have two-time Pro Bowler James Conner as their starting running back and former 1,000-yard wideout Marquise Brown as well.

Conner led the team in both yards from scrimmage (1,082) and total touchdowns (eight) last year, while Brown led in targets (107) and receptions (67), while ranking second in receiving yards (709) and tied with Hopkins for second in receiving touchdowns (three). Ertz paced the team with four receiving touchdowns.

The Cardinals were crushed by injuries last season during their 4-13 campaign, as Conner missed four games, Brown was out for five, Murray missed six and Ertz was out for seven contests. Hopkins was limited to nine games thanks largely to a six-contest PED suspension.

Like Ertz, Murray is making his way back from his own torn ACL.

The former No. 1 overall pick could miss the start of the season but said in July that he wants to be back for Week 1.

The Cardinals open up their 2023 campaign at 1 p.m. ET on Sept. 10 on the road against the Washington Commanders.
