Cardinals grant permission for teams to speak with DeAndre Hopkins

The Arizona Cardinals have officially granted teams permission to speak with five-time Pro Bowl wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins, per NFL insider Albert Breer.

The Cardinals initially asked for a second-round draft pick plus a little more in return for Hopkins, however, this seems to be a far-fetched asking price.

After the Dallas Cowboys acquired WR Brandon Cooks for a fifth and sixth-round draft pick, Hopkins’ value decreased significantly.

Now, instead of the initial asking price of a second-round pick, Arizona may be forced to settle for a third or even later for their future Hall of Fame wide receiver.

However, this will not stop Hopkins from attempting to find the right fit elsewhere. At 30 years old, he has made it clear that he is determined to find a championship-contending team where he can end his career out on a high note.

After playing seven seasons with the Texans and three with the Cardinals, it is understandable that Hopkins is ready to move on to a completely different atmosphere.

As of now, it seems as though his future landing spot has been narrowed down to either the Cowboys, Patriots, Chiefs, Bills, or if all else fails, one more season with the Cardinals.

With NFL coaches all currently meeting in Arizona for their annual conference, one can assume that Hopkins is the center of the conversation surrounding Jonathan Gannon’s bubble.

While Gannon has stated that he will treat Hopkins as if he is returning to the team next season, granting permission to other franchises to speak with him is a major step towards his departure.
