Cardinals' Michael Bidwill Near Bottom of NFL Owner Rankings

The Athletic recently revealed their NFL ownership rankings for 2023, and Arizona Cardinals owner Michael Bidwill was ranked at No. 25. 

"Michael Bidwill was running the team for years before his father, Bill Bidwill, died at age 88 during the 2019 season, but the elder Bidwill remained owner until his passing," wrote Mike Sando, who specified the criteria for the rankings were simply winning percentage under their tenure. 

Bidwill's was at .413 as official owner, though Sando specified his tenure as a shot-caller in AZ would see an improved percentage and thus higher ranking. 

"Michael Bidwill drove decisions to hire coaches Dennis Green, Ken Whisenhunt, Bruce Arians, Steve Wilks, Kingsbury and Gannon, beginning in 2004. The team has a 144-173-2 (.454) record since then, which would move Michael up a few spots in this ranking. The team reached a Super Bowl for the first time during that span, but also has suffered from dysfunction in recent years."

Patriots owner Robert Kraft (.666) led the pack. 

Bidwill has been involved with the Arizona Cardinals for decades, spanning back to 1996 when he joined the organization as vice president - though it's historically noted he was a ball boy for the team way back in his childhood when they were still in St. Louis. 

The Cardinals have made a few pushes to the postseason - most notably in 2008 when they went to the Super Bowl and 2015 when they reached the NFC championship - but have now missed the playoffs in what will be the last seven-of-eight seasons after 2023 concludes.
