Cardinals Named Landing Spot for 2 Free Agent EDGE Defenders
Brad Rempel-USA TODAY Sports

The Arizona Cardinals need help in the pass-rush department.

Their 33 team sacks last season ranked third-from-bottom while the Cardinals were one of two teams in the league to register under 100 quarterback pressures with 98 (only the Carolina Panthers had less at 90).

B.J. Ojulari showed promise towards the end of the season, though Arizona's arsenal of edge rushers could sure use replenishment if the Cardinals intend to be competitive moving forward.

Pro Football Focus recently highlighted two free agents who would be fits in Arizona:

Danielle Hunter

PFF: "Hunter has experience playing for Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon, or he could shift back to more of a 4-3 base defense under new Jaguars defensive coordinator Ryan Nielsen, though Nielsen will also cater to his personnel as he did with the Atlanta defense in 2023."

Our take: Hunter would be one of the bigger names on the market for Arizona, but would the Cardinals be players in the market for Hunter's estimated market value of $20 million annually? It's tough to believe so with the current state of the roster.

Darrell Taylor

PFF: "The Cardinals need more pieces alongside Dennis Gardeck and rookie B.J. Ojulari, so they steal a division rival who may be the odd man out of a Seahawks edge unit that added second-round picks in back-to-back draft classes."

Our take: Taylor fits Arizona's desire to get younger, and his sack numbers are fairly impressive for somebody who didn't play majority of defensive snaps in Seattle.
