Arizona Cardinals rookie quarterback Carson Beck will not play in Thursday's preseason game against the host Las Vegas Raiders due to minor ribs discomfort, the team announced.

The injury isn't considered serious for Beck, who was dinged during the Cardinals' 33-30 loss to the Carolina Panthers in last Thursday's Hall of Fame Game.

The absence of Beck will prevent a rematch of last season's College Football National Championship, in which current Raiders quarterback Fernando Mendoza guided Indiana to a 27-21 victory over the Beck-led Miami Hurricanes.

Mendoza was the No. 1 pick in the 2026 NFL Draft.

Beck, who was selected in the third round, completed 15 of 19 passes for 188 yards and a touchdown versus the Panthers.
