GLENDALE – After cutting their roster to 53 players, the Arizona Cardinals quickly went to work to re-sign 13 players to add to their practice squad. The marquee names of the returners were WR Simi Fehoko and RB Michael Carter. The two were likely player 54 and 55 when the team was trying to get to its mandatory 53-man roster.

The duo had a successful preseason. Fehoko appeared in two games and found the endzone twice. His 6’4 frame made him an attractive receiving threat of quarterback Kyler Murray if given the opportunity in the regular season. Fehoko is uber talented and could get an opportunity if one the receivers ahead of him were sidelined with an injury later in the season.

Carter not making the roster was the biggest surprise, as halfback Bam Knight got the RB4 spot instead. Knight was a longshot, behind Carter and DeeJay Dallas for that spot. However, Knight had one of the best preseasons in the NFL, making Arizona’s decision easy. Carter is still a veteran presence in the locker room that is outspoken on defending teammates, like with Murray on his work ethic a couple of weeks ago.

Defensive back Darren Hall was another surprising cut, as he recorded an impressive interception in the team’s preseason opener against the Kansas City Chiefs. The injuries to the secondary looked to open the door open for him to make the main roster, but he will get another chance on the practice squad.
