Cardinals, seven-time Pro Bowl WR A.J. Green agree to one-year deal

The Arizona Cardinals lost receiver Christian Kirk to the Jacksonville Jaguars earlier this offseason via free agency. The team announced on Thursday though, that they had reached an agreement on a one-year deal to bring back veteran wideout A.J. Green.

While DeAndre Hopkins, when healthy, will presumably continue to be treated as the Cardinals' top wide receiver, "Nuk" was limited to 10 games a year ago and finished with career lows in targets (64), receptions (42) and receiving yards (572). Kirk paced the team in targets (103), receptions (77) and receiving yards (982) in 2021, but Green was second in targets and receiving yards with 92 and 848 respectively, despite missing one game.

Green finished last season tied for third on the squad in receptions (54) and recorded three touchdowns as well.

Last year was Green's first in Arizona, after he spent the first 10 years of his career with the Cincinnati Bengals. The 33-year-old made Pro Bowls in each of his first seven NFL seasons from 2011 to 2017 after being selected at fourth overall in the 2011 draft.

Green has recorded 703 receptions for 10,278 receiving yards and 68 touchdowns over his 143 regular-season game career.
