The Arizona Cardinals host the Green Bay Packers in Week 7 desperate for a win to keep their season afloat. Last in the NFC West Division, the Cardinals are barely on the fringes of the Wild Card hunt after falling to 2-4 with last weeks’ loss to the Colts – their fourth straight. Luckily for them, Marvin Harrison Jr. will be good to go for Sunday’s contest after being stuck in concussion protocol earlier this week.

Holding down Harrison key for Packers defense

There have been rumblings about whether Harrison, the 4th pick of the 2024 draft, is meshing with Arizona quarterback Kyler Murray. Coming off a solid rookie year, Harrison is supposed to be the team’s clear No. 1 receiver, but at times this season he and Murray have not been on the same page. Early on in his sophomore campaign, the former Ohio State receiver looked ill-confident, his raw talent and instincts bottled up by overthinking.

Heading into Week 6, however, the Harrison-Murray connection had improved amid the losing streak. In the past two games, Harrison combined for 10 catches on 15 targets for 164 yards. He hauled in his second touchdown of the season in a tight loss to Seattle on Thursday Night Football.

But Murray missed Week 6 with an ankle injury and then, after a hard tackle drove Harrison’s helmet into the ground after a catch, the Cardinals’ top receiver left the game in the second quarter. He did not return and was placed in concussion protocol.

Ahead of the game against the Packers Murray remains questionable. Regardless of who starts at quarterback, though, Cardinals fans must be relieved to have Harrison back. He and tight end Trey McBride have totaled over half of Arizona’s receiving yards. No one else has more than 13 receptions, and Zay Jones leads non-Harrison/McBride pass catchers with 116 yards.

Ohio State won 20-12.

The Packers’ secondary has been surprisingly good, relying in particular on the mastery of Keisean Nixon alongside Carrington Valentine and the oft-injured Nate Hobbs. The latter once again enters the weekend with a questionable tag on the injury report. Whether or not Hobbs can go, one would have to imagine that Nixon will be tasked with covering Harrison as Arizona’s most dangerous wide receiver.
