The Arizona Cardinals take on the Washington Commanders at State Farm Stadium at 1:05 P.M. Sunday. The Cardinals and the Commanders released their first injury report of the week. Here’s a breakdown of who was listed.
Head coach Jonathan Gannon revealed earlier in the week that McBride was in concussion protocol. He is the most dynamic threat at the position who can play as an inline tight end and flex away from the formation. In each of the first three games, he’s played more than 80% of the snaps on offense. If McBride can’t go on Sunday, then rookie Tip Reiman takes over the inline role while Elijah Higgins is the No. 2 tight end. We could also see a shift from multiple tight end sets to more three receiver looks like in Week 1.
Tonga is a rotational defensive lineman for a position that has seen its fair share of injuries of late. Justin Jones is done for the season with a torn triceps suffered in the Cardinals’ 20-13 loss to the Lions. Arizona signed Naquan Jones, who was with the team in training camp, to the active roster as the corresponding roster move. Tonga has played 45 snaps on the defensive line over the team’s first three games.
Harrison and Baker are newer additions to the injury report. Of the list of limited players, only Beachum did not play in Week 3. Jackson Barton, who has twice been elevated to the active roster, played 48 of 59 snaps at right tackle. Gardeck played the second most snaps on the edge rush rotation, with 32.
