It's been a week since three-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year J.J. Watt officially parted ways with the Houston Texans and became a free agent available to sign with the team of his choosing.
Arizona Cardinals wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins, Watt's former Houston teammate, generated buzz on Tuesday when he posted a photoshopped picture of Watt wearing a Cardinals jersey during a post-game embrace shared by the players with the caption: "Let's finish what we started..."
Cardinals general manager Steve Keim spoke with Arizona Sports 98.7 on Friday about Watt and Hopkins' recruitment techniques.
"If there's an opportunity that makes sense from the football side and the business side, we'll certainly take a swing," Keim said, per Darren Urban of the club's official website and Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk. "Obviously, Hop’s a guy I got a great deal of respect for, not just as a player but obviously the addition of him has certainly improved our recruiting game."
Keim may want to spring into action quickly if he's serious about putting Watt into an actual Cardinals jersey. The veteran who turns 32 years old next month has been heavily linked with the Buffalo Bills, Cleveland Browns, and Tennessee Titans among potential suitors.
We're not sure the NHL's Minnesota Wild are in the mix, but we'll give them credit for also shooting their shot this week.
