GLENDALE – The Arizona Cardinals lose another wide receiver due to injuries in Quez Watkins. The 27-year-old signed a one-year deal with the team, after spending the first four years of his career with the Philadelphia Eagles. In 49 games, he has 98 catches, 1,249 receiving yards and six touchdowns. Arizona is signing wide receiver Nate McCollum as a possible replacement.

What does McCollum bring to Cardinals:

McCollum had a five-year collegiate career, spending three years with Georgia Tech and two with North Carolina. He recorded 143 catches, 1,521 receiving yards and five touchdowns during that span. At 5’11, McCollum is more of a speedy, slot wide receiving option for quarterback Kyler Murray in the offensive scheme.

Other wide receivers, like Marvin Harrison Jr. and Michael Wilson, have been sidelined due to a variety of injuries that have completely hindered the team this training camp cycle. The preseason opener against the Kansas City Chiefs is less than a week away, and the Cardinals are limping towards the date. However, head coach Jonathan Gannon has mentioned that it’s next man up, and McCollum fits the bill.
