Carolina Panthers Send Clear Message With Bobby Okereke Signing

While it is right before the season, the Carolina Panthers were finally able to address one of their biggest roster concerns.

Carolina went on to sign Bobby Okereke to a one-year contract. With Okereke being one of the more accomplished defenders left available on the open market, this signing made sense.

Bobby Okereke Brings Stability

Okereke might no longer be the player he once was in his prime, but he still finished all 17 games last season and accumulated 143 tackles, six pass deflections, and two interceptions. The Panthers can hope that will translate to their defense as well.

Pairing Okereke with Devin Lloyd now gives Carolina one of the best linebacking combinations in the entire league. Lloyd brings the athleticism, while Okereke brings the physicality and consistent tackling, and they pair well with each other.

Signing Okereke isn’t a blockbuster move, but it is one the Panthers needed to make to ensure they don’t have defensive holes this season.
