Carolina Panthers Sign AJ Dillon to 1-Year Deal

The Carolina Panthers have added some running back depth during free agency. NFL insider Jordan Schultz is reporting that the team has agreed to a one-year contract with running back AJ Dillon. He will be joining a loaded running back room with Chuba Hubbard and Jonathon Brooks to get some carries and help the offense.

Dillon spent last season with the Philadelphia Eagles and has spent a handful of years with the Green Bay Packers. Over 60 games in his five-year career, he has 609 rushing attempts for 2,488 yards (4.1 yards per carry) with 16 rushing touchdowns and 89 receptions for 784 yards (8.8 yards per catch) with two receiving touchdowns. With the Carolina Panthers looking to continue taking some pressure off quarterback Bryce Young, this is a chance to give him a veteran running back for key situations.

With the Carolina Panthers being aggressive in free agency by adding veterans on the defensive side like edge rusher Jaelan Phillips and linebacker Devin Lloyd, the team has added a good running back for one season. It will be interesting to see how Dillon plays and how often he is able to get on the field with this running back room being the way it is.
