Carolina Signs a Cornerback to the 53-Man Roster
USA TODAY Sports

Tuesday afternoon, the Carolina Panthers filled an open spot on their 53-man roster by signing cornerback Dicaprio Bootle.

Bootle has been on the Panthers' practice squad but has been elevated to the active roster in three consecutive weeks. He has served as a depth option at corner, however, he has not taken a defensive snap just yet. He has, however, appeared in 56 special teams snaps and has recorded a pair of tackles.

Bootle signed as an undrafted free agent with the Kansas City Chiefs in 2021 and appeared in seven games with the team over the last two seasons, primarily on special teams.

During his college days at Nebraska, Bootle tallied 110 tackles, 26 pass breakups, 1.5 tackles for loss, and one interception.

The Panthers also made a couple of other moves today, waiving fellow cornerback Sam Webb and signing defensive tackle Jayden Peevy to the practice squad. Webb was active for last week's game in Detroit. He appeared in 10 defensive snaps and 12 special teams stats but did not record any stats.

As for Peevy, he's seen extremely limited action in two games across two seasons with the Tennessee Titans. The 6-foot-6, 310-pounder spent five years at Texas A&M where he collected 137 tackles, 19 tackles for loss, seven pass breakups, 6.5 sacks, two fumble recoveries, one forced fumble, and one interception.
