The Chicago Bears have yet to announce who their starting quarterback is for Week 4. Their Week 3 starter, Case Keenum, shared his honest thoughts on the team’s QB1 uncertainty.
Caleb Williams remains sidelined due to a hamstring injury. He sustained it in the fourth quarter of the 9-3 loss to the Minnesota Vikings in Week 2. Tyson Bagent also did not play on Monday versus the Philadelphia Eagles as he dealt with concussion symptoms. The QB2 and Keenum both practiced on Thursday and will be available to face the New York Jets.
Keenum delivered a strong performance in the 27-7 victory over the Eagles. He completed 24-of-34 passes for 247 yards and two touchdowns. It was the 38-year-old’s first start since 2023.
The Houston Cougars product shared his thoughts on facing uncertainty throughout his NFL career. He highlighted that he continues to learn from different situations, including the one he’s currently part of.
“I’m built for this,” Keenum said. “I have so many banked reps of situations and outside noise that I just tune it all out and I believe the truth; what my coaches tell me and what my teammates tell me and what I see on film and what I know I can do. You just go out there and do the best you can and then you learn from when you don’t succeed. It’s not failure; it’s just an opportunity to learn.”
Case Keenum has lived in limbo his entire NFL career, not knowing how long he’d have in a starters’ role in any of his stops or whether he’d be back on the bench after starting a game. How has been able to navigate that space?

Bagent made it clear that he fully supports Keenum. However, only one of them will have the opportunity to star under center on Sunday, with the other serving as the backup. The Bears are aiming to improve to 3-1 and win as much games until Williams returns. A two-game road trip awaits them after the Jets matchup. Chicago will face its rivals, the Green Bay Packers, in Week 5 before its clash with the Atlanta Falcons on Oct. 18.
