According to multiple reports, the Miami Dolphins and cornerback Xavien Howard have agreed to a five-year contract extension on Friday. The extension, reportedly worth $90 million ($50,691,177 in new money), will make Howard the highest-paid cornerback in NFL history.

The 29-year-old Howard originally had a five-year, $75.2 million deal that paid him $15 million on average per season. The five-year extension signed Friday will be fully guaranteed, netting Howard more than $25 million on average yearly.
Los Angeles Rams Jalen Ramsey was previously the highest-paid cornerback in the league. Ramsey signed a five-year $100 million contract extension with LA in 2020. The extension paid Ramsey, on average, $20 million a year.
Howard, originally selected in the second round by the Dolphins in 2016, has spent six seasons in Miami. Now, entering his seventh season with the team, Howard has a historic deal for a corner.
In 72 career games with Miami, Howard has 241 tackles, 27 interceptions, four forced fumbles and two sacks.
